ORD to PUJ ENVF Flight Change FAQs

Due to factors beyond our control, ALG Vacations® has made the very difficult decision to suspend the Frontier-operated ORD/PUJ Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flights formerly operating daily from 1/7/26 – 3/5/26 and 4/14/26 – 8/10/26. As with any operational decision, we're sure you have several questions, and hope we can address them with this directory of FAQs that may help.

Why are you taking down these flights?

In the past few years, the world of air travel has changed significantly. With a program that is negotiated well over a year in advance, we are constantly keeping eyes on the market evolution. Some of these changes have happened over time, and others quickly.

Lower utilization of aircraft, lower demand, and increased competition have all been challenges our ENVFs have faced, but we have always remained consistent in our commitment to providing this program. One change that has happened fairly quickly since contracting our 2026 ENVF space is unprecedented inventory increases among scheduled carriers in the ORD-PUJ market, the likes of which we haven’t seen in 50 years.

This has made it operationally difficult for Frontier to compete, which is why Frontier scheduled air for this route is being discontinued as well.

Will this affect my spring break bookings?

We have worked hard with Frontier and can confirm there will be no service interruptions for flights during the peak spring break period of 3/6/26 – 4/13/26. During these dates, ORD/PUJ/ORD service via Frontier will operate as scheduled and will not be affected.

However, if your passengers are scheduled to:

  • Return 3/6/26 – 3/9/26 OR
  • Depart 4/10/26 – 4/13/26

They may choose to keep their operating ENVF segment and you can contact Client Notification to rebook passengers on scheduled air for the cancelled segment only. Please see next question for details.

What if the cancellation only affects one leg of flights? (ORD to PUJ or PUJ to ORD)?

Some passengers may be impacted one way, where one flight segment (outbound or return) is still operating as a nonstop ENVF but the other flight segment is now cancelled (outbound or return).

Situations where this may now happen:

  • Passengers depart between 11/19/25-1/6/26 (flights are still operating) and are scheduled to return between 1/7/26-3/5/26 (flights are now cancelled)
  • Passengers depart between 1/7/26-3/5/26 (flights are now cancelled) and are scheduled to return between 3/6/26-4/13/26 (flights are still operating)
  • Passengers depart between 3/6/26-4/13/26 (flights are still operating) and are scheduled to return between 4/14/26-8/10/26 (flights are now cancelled)

These passengers may choose to remain on the operating nonstop ENVF segment and rebook the other cancelled segment via scheduled air or choose one of the other protection options provided in the detailed communication letter.

If passengers opt to stay on the operating ENVF one way and choose a scheduled air flight for the cancelled segment, please reach out directly to Client Notification at  clientnotifications-alg@applelg.net with original reservation number as this option may not be self-serviced.

Does this affect other ENVFs or scheduled air between ORD and PUJ?

Outside of Frontier, other ORD/PUJ scheduled air offerings and availability, as well as all other existing ENVF routes, will not be affected.

Are you discontinuing ENVFs from ORD?

No. ALGV remains committed to our ENVF program from ORD and all other gateways across the country and are actively working on strengthening our offerings.

Will my commission be protected?

All original commissions will be honored for travel advisors who rebook their passengers to any of the alternative travel adjustments ALGV is providing. Only if the commission on the rebooking is higher will the new commission amount override the original, ensuring maximum earnings for your business.

What is ALGV doing to support impacted travel advisors?

We are committed to preserving the relationships shared with travel advisors and your customers and have created a detailed booking protection plan with compensation options to support your business. You may have already received an email with all of your protection options already.

Internally, we have prepared our teams to facilitate changes with urgency, care, and ease.

Additionally, we are in the process of planning a webinar exclusively for advisors with impacted bookings to review them, ask questions, and get answers, so please stay tuned for that.

What are my protection options?

As part of our ENVF commitment, ALGV is pleased to offer five alternatives to your affected clients, all of which you will be able to self-service to ensure fast resolution and a seamless customer experience. Compensation considerations are also offered within these options.

What do I do if they want to move to a scheduled carrier?

Your clients may choose to change to different dates, keeping the same hotel and room category traveling via scheduled air flights within 7 days before or after their original departure travel date. Vacation package price will be honored provided it does not exceed more than $150 per person over the original pricing.

Can I move my clients to another ENVF to PUJ from another gateway?

Yes, and we encourage doing so!  ALGV continues to offer Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flights to Punta Cana from Rockford, Milwaukee, Lansing, and St. Louis, and are offering a $150 per person deduction on reservations that are revised to depart from the above.

How about changing their destination?

Customers may also choose to rebook to another Exclusive Nonstop Vacation Flight operating from Chicago O'Hare to Cancun in 2026. Clients are responsible for the new package price and may be required to deposit additional funds at the time of change. In order to address a potential increase in costs, ALGV will deduct $100 per person on the revised reservation.

What if passengers had pre-purchased carry-on or checked baggage fees on the Frontier ENVF?

If passengers are rebooking to scheduled air service flights or an ENVF option via Sun Country Airlines, baggage fees pre-purchased via the Frontier ENVF will be refunded to the original form of payment and passengers should purchase any ancillary fees directly with their new air carrier.

If passengers are rebooking to an ENVF via GlobalX, travel advisors should purchase the applicable checked baggage fee (Please note that the checked baggage allowance via GlobalX is 50 lbs rather than 40 lbs via Frontier. Additionally, passengers traveling via GlobalX also receive one free carry-on bag in addition to their personal item).

If passengers are rebooking to another Frontier ENVF, please select the same baggage options as purchased on the original reservation.

What can I do with the deductions/savings ALGV is offering for rebooked reservations?

We encourage you to give these discounts to your customers to help cover additional travel expenses or book a park-and-fly hotel offer for an ENVF alternative gateway; build goodwill and loyalty; or to increase your own commission to compensate for the additional time you are spending on rebooking. Or you can do a little bit of both! Ultimately, we’re leaving the choice up to you.

What happens with canceled bookings?

If customers decide not to rebook, you must contact Client Notification by messaging clientnotifications-alg@applelg.net with the original reservation number and reference option 5. With this option they may receive a full refund or travel credit. All ALG Vacations change and cancel fees are waived, including the cost of Travel Protection Plus.
Please note: If a decision is not communicated to our team or actioned by November 20, 2025, ALGV reserves the right to cancel your booking.

Once cancelled, you can access the Fund Request Form in your reservation in VAX and select Request a Refund/Travel Credit. Fill in the remainder of the pre-populated forms and submit your fund request. Access all the details on using the Fund Request form in VAX here.

If you have already changed or canceled these impacted reservations, no action is required on your part and you do not need to contact us regarding your client’s reservation(s).

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we work to make this transition as seamless as possible.
